Fatherhood is a process by which you will learn a lot of things while, at the same time, teaching. Nathaniel’s birth has opened my eyes to such a truth I would later on understand as a calling. It feels like I was sent on a mission to help and guide this little version of myself to become the best that he could be. The following are just six of the many reasons why being a dad is a feat worth rewarding:

BEING A DAD IS A SPECIAL TASK

You became not just any male out there capable of fathering a child. But you’re a special dad because you’re playing the role of one of the most important jobs in the world. Your role is to love, nurture, and to protect.

YOU’RE ON A MISSION

You’re called to imitate the examples of Christ. You have to live out the vocation of fatherhood through selfless love.

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD

You are a part of the solution. The future of the children you’re raising depends a lot on you. What they will become when they grow up, what they can contribute to the society, and how much you have impacted their minds with the kind of fatherhood you have introduced to them. The future of the world will be dictated by how fathers have raised their children. You have the power to change the world.

YOU NEVER STOP BEING A DAD

Once you are a dad, you never stop being one. But you will only grow to treasure such a gift of self you could share with your spouse and children through selfless love. Your understanding will also increase as a result of that.

BEING A DAD IS ABOUT MAKING THINGS HAPPEN IN LOVE

Fatherhood helps you find a new vision of life. Actually it’s just the rediscovery of your own self on others by simply expressing your love in extraordinary ways. It’s what you can contribute to the world to make it a better place in which to live. It is to reflect on such a role and live by it.

BEING A DAD IS A JOYFUL RESPONSIBILITY

You are called to be actively engaged in your calling. Fatherhood is a deep personal calling. Being a dad is to experience the joys of fatherhood and to be accounted for it.
